Name of the charity: Barnardos

Type of work: Barnardos works in the heart of local disadvantaged communities with children and families whose well-being is under threat. We provide services in over 40 projects nationally and work with over 5,500 children each year. 

Current Projects: Barnardos offers services across three stages of child development:

Best Start: Services for children aged 0-5 years, supporting healthy emotional development and school readiness outcomes. 

Best Chance: Services for children aged 6-12 years, focusing on the achievement of emotional well-being, and learning and development outcomes.

Best Choice: Services for children and young people aged 13-18 years, focusing on learning and development 

We also have a number of specialist services which include Barnardos Bereavement Counselling for children, Guardian Ad Litem Service, Origins Tracing Service and a Post Adoption service .
What a donation of €2,000 could achieve for you?: A donation of €2000 could help support 11 children attending a Barnardos after-school service .

What a donation of €5,000 could achieve for you?: A donation of €5000 could help provide vital bereavement counselling for children who have lost someone close.

Our work is about helping children make the most of their lives, regardless of what they’re up against.  Every day we encounter children living brutalised lives.  We work with families to improve parenting skills and tackle issues of poverty, domestic abuse, addiction and the impact these problems have on children.
