Down Syndrome Ireland

Name of the charity: Down Syndrome Ireland, Louth/Meath Branch.
Type of work: The purpose of the association is to find ways to improve the lives of those with Down syndrome and to help them reach their full potential. With adequate stimulation from an early age and proper education, children with Down syndrome can develop a high degree of competence.
Current Projects: The Early Intervention Home Teacher Programme. The Programme is aimed at preschool children (aged from 1 year to 6 years) with Down syndrome There are currently 65 children availing of the programme. The programme consists of early intervention teachers visiting the home of the child with Down syndrome for 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours every fortnight throughout the school year (approximately 21 visits per year, or approximately 37 hours of early intervention per year). The teacher works with the parents and child, within the family structure, providing a wealth of information and knowledge that ultimately seeks to enable the child to reach his or her full potential.
What a donation of €2,000 could achieve for you?: Provide 26 Home Teacher visits to children with Down syndrome.
What a donation of €5,000 could achieve for you?: Provide 56 Home Teacher visits to children with Down syndrome.
Why should our teams choose you?: The Louth Meath Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland is a completely voluntary run organisation, with no administration costs. All funds raised go directly towards supporting people with Down syndrome.
